Interstellar Group Strengthens Microsoft Security Positioning through Acquisition of EightFence

04.11.2024 • 3 min read

Delft, November 4, 2024 – IT service provider Interstellar Group is taking a major step in its growth strategy with the acquisition of cybersecurity specialist EightFence. This acquisition strengthens Interstellar Group's ambitions to be the most relevant IT service provider in the Netherlands, with a strong focus on Microsoft technology.

Addressing Security Developments

Interstellar Group focuses on mid-sized organizations and institutions with solutions in productivity, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. With the addition of EightFence, Interstellar Group now has over 800 employees. This acquisition allows Interstellar Group to help its customers better address rapidly evolving security developments. Through its 24/7 security monitoring services based on Microsoft technology, Interstellar Group can serve its clients even more effectively.

EightFence Moves to the Next Phase

EightFence has established a strong position in the market as a Microsoft Managed Security Service Provider, with cybersecurity specialists operating from its 24×7 Security Operations Center in Rotterdam. This has led to building a client base in sectors such as government and finance, which demand high standards of cybersecurity due to regulations like NIS2, DORA, and BIO.

Tim de Vries, CEO of EightFence, states: “In a short span of three years, EightFence has achieved rapid growth. As a refreshing cybersecurity partner, we offer industry-specific, state-of-the-art security for organizations worldwide, both in the cloud and on-premises, and on a continuous 24×7 basis. After all, attackers don’t work nine to five. Interstellar’s ambition to become a leading Managed Security Service Provider and Microsoft Partner of the Year aligns seamlessly with EightFence’s goals.”

A Complement to Interstellar

This acquisition is also a significant step for Pinewood, a cybersecurity company that is part of Interstellar Group. Sebastiaan Kors, CEO of Pinewood, comments, “This acquisition fits perfectly within our strategy to meet the growing demand for Microsoft technology support from our Security Operations Center in Delft. Across the group, we now have around 100 security professionals focused on security monitoring and advisory services.” The same applies to the security offerings from RawWorks, also part of Interstellar Group. By combining various cybersecurity strategies, Interstellar Group can provide clients with the right solution, regardless of their needs and requirements.

Maarten van Montfoort, CEO of Interstellar Group, comments on the acquisition of EightFence: “We aim to provide our clients with future-oriented IT services. Cybersecurity is one of the three pillars through which we serve the market. Additionally, Microsoft is the go-to platform for virtually all our clients. Many of our clients struggle to keep these environments as secure as possible. With the addition of EightFence, we are even better equipped to address this and work together towards a stronger and more resilient IT environment for our clients.”
