Prescan, a market leader in preventive medical examinations, has modernized their ICT environment in collaboration with Interstellar by switching to a cloud-based digital workplace solution, significantly improving scalability and efficiency within their operations.

About Prescan

Since 2003, Prescan has established itself as a pioneer in preventive medical examinations, with clinics and offices both nationally and internationally. The organization cannot operate without reliable ICT for conducting medical screenings. Prescan has been a customer of Interstellar since 2015.

Need to grow with modern requirements

Prescan’s existing on-premises ICT solutions no longer met the scalability and flexibility requirements needed to grow and innovate within the healthcare sector.

“In the exploratory discussions that were initiated with suppliers under my predecessor, it became clear that the on-premises client server environment needed an overhaul,” says Edwin Kortleve, ICT Manager at Prescan. “While other suppliers proposed an on-premises renewal with high initial costs, Interstellar introduced a cloud solution. This way, you know what to expect monthly and you use a good data center, equipped with high-tech facilities.”

‘Own hosting at this level is a utopia’

Interstellar introduced a customized cloud solution that allows Prescan to efficiently manage their ICT infrastructure, with improved security and accessibility. This solution supports Prescan’s infrastructure and storage needs without the complexity and risks of their previous systems. Kortleve: “We could never facilitate our own hosting as well as a specialized party can do. Offering the same redundancy is a utopia.”

Prescan also uses a Modern Workspace and Communications solution, for which Interstellar provided the setup and now takes care of the management. “Telephony and desktop environments simply have to work all the time. Downtime is unacceptable, because for Prescan that often equals missed clientele and thus has a huge impact. We are a company that is very dependent on the phone,” says Kortleve.

Satisfaction with the high level of ICT flexibility

Since the implementation, Prescan has seen an improvement in operational efficiency and reduced downtime, which is essential for their services. About 70% of their workstations have switched to thin clients, resulting in fewer disruptions and increased reliability. “I’m happy with the ICT flexibility we’ve achieved together. I like that we now have the freedom to directly set up new accounts, applications, or systems ourselves, without Prescan having to invest in new hardware,” says Kortleve.

“In terms of telephony, we’ve gained a lot of possibilities,” the ICT manager knows. “In addition to colleagues being reachable on all their devices and being able to make calls via computer, they can make mobile calls via the general Prescan number.” He’s also pleased with the level of self-service: “I can easily create a new phone number for each project myself. I can also set up complex call flows without programming or external help. With our previous solution, these kinds of things were unthinkable.”

A new horizon: Prescan broadens perspective with Interstellar

The collaboration with Interstellar has enabled Prescan to seamlessly and cost-effectively scale their ICT needs, allowing them to continue meeting the high demands of their medical screening services. The flexibility and reliability of Interstellar’s cloud solutions are now an integral part of Prescan’s strategy for future growth and innovation.

“Interstellar fully understands our needs. They look at the best IT solution and the best configuration,” Kortleve concludes.
