KwadrantGroep, a healthcare institution specializing in home care, support at home, and care in residential centers, set up a flexible and future-proof SD-WAN IT infrastructure in collaboration with Interstellar. This has improved technological support in healthcare, enabling the group to work more efficiently and provide better care.
KwadrantGroep is a provider of elderly care in Friesland with approximately 6300 employees and 1600 volunteers spread across various care homes and office locations. This geographical dispersion poses unique demands on their IT infrastructure.
Modern healthcare demands new requirements in terms of speed, security, and efficiency. To guarantee KwadrantGroep’s quality of care, outdated IT systems needed replacement. Seamless integration and communication between all branches was an important requirement in this process.
“Ultimately, all branches need to be connected. Until recently, we worked with a Citrix-based system, linked to systems and applications in the central data center via an IP-VPN network connection,” says Ronald Leemeijer, Service Owner at KwadrantGroep.
We can now focus better on our core tasks: delivering the best possible elderly care.

Interstellar advised a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solution to efficiently connect and manage all locations. This system supports advanced healthcare applications and enables fast and secure data transfer. In practice, Citrix was not yet phased out, as some healthcare applications are still accessed through their own data center. Thus, a combined solution is the result.
In this solution, KwadrantGroep’s CuraTec healthcare system was also included in the translation to SD-WAN, as well as internet telephony.
The new IT infrastructure has significantly improved KwadrantGroep’s quality of care. The systems offer increased reliability, faster network performance, and have led to direct cost savings. This has had a direct impact on the quality of care that KwadrantGroep can provide. “We can now focus better on our core tasks: delivering the best possible care,” Leemeijer concludes.
With Interstellar’s help, KwadrantGroep has developed a robust and scalable IT infrastructure that not only addresses current operational challenges, but is also ready for future technological developments. This transformation enables KwadrantGroep to carry out their core mission of delivering quality care even more effectively.
Leemeijer: “Future initiatives must also fit the underlying SD-WAN infrastructure. All these new possibilities, which KwadrantGroep’s management also wants to focus on, help us to do the right things in less time, both now and in the future.”
